omg!!!! okay, I read about this like, a year ago, but I had completely forgotten about it until just now when it happened!!!! and you're all like "oh joy... sounds fun..." well, prepare to be seriously disappointed XD
okay, so I recently decided to fully indulge myself into pure video game escapism and went on a hunt for all the zelda games I don't have. I found my copy of oracle of seasons in the living room from years ago that I never even played really... ought a copy of oracle of ages (which synchs up with oracle of seasons) and I also bought link's awakening.
link's awakening came out for the original gameboy back in 1993 and in 1998 it was re-released in color for the gameboy color (called the legend of zelda: link's awakening DX) and that's the version I got. since link's awakening is the oldest of the three games I had acquired, I decided to play through that one first.
I'm a rather fair ways into it and omg... it's like, amazingly addictive. it's one of those weird zelda games that I adore. like majora's mask, it doesn't seem to have any mention of ganondorf (the constant villain in the series) and it's got kind of a weird storyline...
link was sailing and his ship crashed and a girl found him stranded on a beach of a small island. link eventually wakes up and the girl, marin, says that there was some stuff from your ship that was left at the shore so you (you has officially replaced link, since he's now being controlled by the player) go down to the shore and find your sword and you get your shield somewhere else and so you explore and stuff and of course an owl finds you and is like "if you get the eight mysterious instruments and play them in from of the giant egg where the wind fish sleep on the top of the mountain, he'll wake up and carry you off the island home"
oh joy... wind fish?
so you hafta go find the instruments, which are, of course located at the end of dungeons and their are bosses and sub-bosses and stuff and you get bombs and a bow and arrow and a feather that lets you jump and boots that let you charge at enemies and crazy stuff.
so I sorta gave up after the third dungeon 'cause I couldn't figure out where to go. so I found this surprisingly good faq on gamefaqs.com. I figured out what to do and I'm moved on and there was a fat walrus sleeping in the road, so I went to o get marin to sing to him so he'd wake up and when I talked to her, she was like "alright then, let's go." and just like when you get an item in the game, the screen says "you got marin!" and for no reason at all, under that it said "is this your big chance?" XDDD
and then in the faq it said a few random things to do while marin was with you. I got our picture taken inside a well. when I broke a pot she says "oh link, you're such a bad boy!" and when I looked at the chest in the back of someone's house she said "do you always look into people's drawers?".
but omg... the reason why I'm writing this... there's a chicken near marin's house and sometimes you can corner it and slash it repeatedly. when you slash it, each time marin's like "no! no! poor hen! stop that!" but after like eight or nine slashes she says " ha ha ha! do it! do it! mooooooore... oh, I mean- it's nothing..." XDDDDDD
omg... so freakin' amazing.... XDDDD
